Moonlight is an imaginary still moment and a quiet celebration of purple (as originally hooked). Although it is a simple pattern, I found it a challenge to get the colors to harmonize. The pattern has been updated to more accurately illustrate how the shadows would work. The tree line is created by the placement of the hooked loops.
The original pattern is hooked with wool fabric, yarn, and roving. The yarns and fabrics are a mix of hand-dyed, repurposed, and commercial materials. This pattern will work for rug hooking and punch needle; yarn and/or cloth. Also suitable for mini-punch needle and latch hook techniques
Moonlight was originally hooked at 8" x 13.5" and is available at that size or a larger size at 12" x 20.25" on Linen or Monk's Cloth. Please let us know if you want a Punch Needle pattern (the design is reversed).
Each pattern includes the backing with the design hand-drawn, a 4”+ border, and a serged edge to prevent unraveling. Also included is a color photo of the pattern hooked by S. Kirsten Gay.
The pattern includes general instructions on this pattern and an inspirational color image. Patterns on backing shipped from Vermont, USA. Kits are an approximation of the materials used, including many novelty materials. They are not identical to those shown in the original rug, but are lovely.
